Hello everybody!
We just wanted to send out a quick update to all those who might be interested. We are getting so close to our departure! We now have about 6 weeks before Whitney and the girls will take off for Virginia for our last furniture drop-off. Chris is going to go with them over a long weekend towards the end of January, but then come back to Pensacola for about 2 weeks to finish up the final details with our house and work. It looks as if our official last day in the Navy will be right around February 1st. Once Chris gets his final separation paperwork, he will fly up to his parent’s house in Virginia to meet up with all the girls, and then it’s off to the international airport. We hope to fly out in the beginning of February, and on the way we intend to stop and see our lovely Bean family in Kauai. After some time with our friends, we are off to Thailand!
Our funding seems to be picking up some speed! Thank you all so much for your prayers and financial support! It is incredibly humbling to be in such a position and relationship with all of you!
These last few months have truly been a test of our faith as we begin to sell all of our possessions, give our money to the poor, and step into the unknown. Our hearts are beginning to taste of the freedom found in trusting God and releasing our entire lives to Him. He is worthy of it all. We don’t believe it will happen, but even if we die in the process of all of this because of starvation, danger, disease or whatever else you can think of coming from the risks we are taking, we will all one day stand before our King and give an account of our lives to Him. We are not willing to sit back passively, hoping that He will say, “well done my good and faithful servant”, because these other words of Jesus are reverberating in our hearts constantly;
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”(Matthew 7:21-23 NIV)
We hope that this stirs you all up to obedience and intimacy with Jesus! We love all of you so much, and we are praying for you too.
Love
